BQ24195: Reset following a default

Dear e2e Support,

When our charger detect a fault (as a watchdog event), it resets all the registers by a default value.

This behavior doesn't fit to my customer application, where the following parameters need to be kept: Charge voltage limit, Fast charge current limit, Input current limit, Input voltage limit, Minimum system voltage limit, I²C watchdog timer setting.

Is there any way to save a kind of "custom config" in our IC?

Hello,

If the watchdog timer expires, all the registers will be reset to their default values. This is explained on section 8.4.1 of the datasheet.

Customer can disable the WDT over I2C , REG05[5:4] = 00 to prevent the WDT from expiring and resetting the configuration. In order for the I2C registers to be kept, a valid battery voltage must be applied to BAT pin (~2.3V).

Thank you for your feedback.

In that case, we need to maintain the watchdog functionality.
Don't we have any hidden register or any trick to inhibit the reset?

Hello,

You can use REG01[6] to reset the WDT. The host would need to write to this bit periodically to prevent the WDT from expiring within the timer's period.
