BQ27541 hanging the I2C bus

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27541, TWL6030, BQ27541-V200

Hello,

I have a customer using BQ27541 in their battery pack with our OMAP4 based design. They noticed that every once in a while when the battery pack is inserted and they try to power on the system, it does not work because for some reason BQ27541 is hanging up the I2C bus that is connected between OMAP4, TWL6030 PMIC and BQ27541. The problem goes away if the customer remove the battery pack and powers up the system from a different source such as DC IN. Is there any known problem with BQ part hanging up the I2C bus?

Also, I noticed that BQ5741 is no longer recommended for new design, instead TI recommends our customers to use BQ27541-V200 part instead. I would like to know the reason for this change and what kind of problems may occur if BQ27541 is used instead.

Regards,

Shaheen
