BQ25892: STAT_DIS bit does not disable status pin

Part Number: BQ25892

Hi E2E team,

I am developing a product using the BQ25892 battery charger and I have found that setting the STAT_DIS bit in REG07 does not disable the status LED from blinking. Is this an oversight on TI's part? I read register 0x07 as 0x9D (default value according to data sheet), and then I write register 0x07 to be 0xCD (set status disable bit and disable watchdog), but the status LED still blinks. Am I misunderstanding the function of this bit? Is there an equivalent method of disabling the PG pin?

Thanks and regards,

Craig
