Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24105, BQ25071
Hi
I wish to use BQ25070 to charge a LiFePo4 battery from a USB Port.
In the BQ25070 datasheet - slusa66.pdf VIN-DPM was metioned twice, and only for disabling it.
How do I keep it on always?
Why would you disable it?
Is BQ25070's VIN-DPM the same as the VIN-DPM mentioned in slua400a.pdf? "VINDPM prevents an adapter from crashing by reducing current instead of voltage. This allows for charging to continue, albeit at a slower pace."
My concern is before the USB Port enumerates my MCU, it will only supply 100mA. And if I set the charge current to 467mA with 8 Pulses, it will collapse the Voltage from the USB Port, and the PC may lock that port out thinking it's a short circuit, thus never enumerates my MCU.
I hope with the VIN-DPM feature I can get away with not using a USB Detector circuit.
BQ25070 is a linear charger with Pd=(5-3.5)*0.467=0.7w for my case(that's at the end of the charging cycle, more at the start, seems to be a lot), can you recommend a non-linear (or switch mode) that dissipates less heat?
Cheers
Harry
