BQ33100: How to learning?

Part Number: BQ33100

Hello,

May I ask how to learn bq33100? Do you have detailed steps?

For example, before learning When do I enter 0x0021, when do I enter 0x0025, and what do I do next....

Can you give me the detailed steps ?

TKS!

  • Hi Laker%20Lian,

The learning process is a multi-step procedure fully controlled by the bq33100 that will perform the following sequence to learn Capacitance and ESR:

    1. Charge to V Learn Max
    2. Discharge using constant current load to a minimum voltage of the present charging voltage and internally record voltage and time
    3. Charge to V Learn Max
    4. Discharge using constant current load and internally record current and time
    5. Calculate Capacitance and ESR based on recorded voltage and current
    6. Determine new Charging Voltage (See section 8.3.1.1 of the Datasheet)

    As for the MAC commands:

0x24 copies the value in Design Capacitance to both Capacitance and Init 1st Capacitance. Also, it copies the value in Design ESR to both ESR and Initial ESR.

0x23 measures the capacitance and ESR and only changes the values in Capacitance and ESR. It does not affect the initial values.

0x25 measures the capacitance and ESR and changes Capacitance, ESR, Init 1st Capacitance, and Initial ESR to the measured values.

0x21 to MAC 0x00 is the last command sent before sealing the pack and will enable Lifetime and Perm Fail functions.

    Sincerely,
    Bryan Kahler
