BQ25504: Bq25504 opering with a battery as load

Hello, in my project I am trying to use the bq25504 with a battery as load. Besides the battery for the operation of the bq25504 attached at VBAT pin, I would like to know if I can use a Li-Ion battery as load of the system.

Ricardo,

You can connect a LiIon battery at BAT. Please set the VBAT_OV to 4.2V.

Jeff F,

Thank you for your reply, but I plan to use a convencional capacitor at VBAT and a Li-Ion baterry as load. Is it possible?

Ricardo,

The bq25504 has a PFET between VSTOR and VBAT to isolate the battery from VSTOR in order to prevent the battery from being overdischarged by the system load at VSTOR. If your battery has an internal protector to provide this same function, then it is okay to connect the battery to VSTOR (and also connect VBAT to VSTOR).
