BQ29706: Problem with initial power-up of BQ29706

Hello,

I've got this chip in the exact circuit as in the datasheet, with the two 5M resistors on the MOSFETs. However, after connecting power to the input, and shorting V- to VSS, it still doesn't turn the MOSFETs on. I've already tried to replace it with a new one, still the same issue.

Does the schematic you're referring to look like the one below ?

Could you let me know what input voltage you're using, as well as the MOSFET part number ?

Hello Nabil,

Yes, that's the schematic. The part number of the MOSFET is CSD16406Q3. Input voltage is 3.2V.

You're shorting V- to Vss. Try putting a 2.2k ohm resistor between V- and Pack- as shown in the schematic.

I was referring to page 17 of the datasheet, where it says that shorting those two pins once after power is applied will turn on the discharging circuit. I still have the resistor between V- and Pack-.

Marian,
Shorting the pins should wake the device up and turn on the circuit like you mentioned. How long did you short for? Do you have your schematic you can share?
