TPS62260: Automatic transition feature from PFM to FPWM or vice versa

Part Number: TPS62260

Hi Sir,

I plan to study TPS62260DRV under this condition.

VIN : 6V

VOUT : 3.3V

IOUT : 100uA to 500mA

Target Efficiency : over 50% at 100uA, over 90% at 500mA

Mode pin : fixed Low (power save mode)

In this case this device behaves automatic transition from PFM to FPWM or vice versa.

My question is How much current is needed to change these mode?

Device datasheet (Page8) describes the picture of automatic mode transition but there is no current value in it.

Regards,

  • Hello User,

Due to the nature of the automatic transition, the current value can be only estimated.

This estimation consists in the transition current value between CCM and DCM:

You can see how every factor in this equation has a certain degree of uncertainty, which means you can make only an estimation.
