TPS544C20: Operation when Ignore on Fault

Part Number: TPS544C20

Hi,

If "Ignore on Fault" is set with Bit 2 to 5 of 01h, I think OV and UV are masked, but will PGOOD be masked, too?
Also, in that condition, does the PGOOD signal react after the output voltage stops due to the protection operation of OC or OT? Or is it masked?

Best regards,
Yuto Sakai

  • Sakai-san,

OV and UV are not masked and also PG is not masked. The ignore fault is only applicable to the Margin levels. Here is an example with Ignore on fault set and short on the output. Same scenario with OV on output.

  • Hi Mathew-san,

In the data sheet P.31 NOTE, it says "When using the Ignore Fault option of the OPERATION command, these faults are masked when entering Margin High or Margin Low", and when asked directly before, OV and UV I heard that I can disable, but is it protection operation of OV and UV work even if it is set to Ignore Fault?

Also, if I can disable OV or UV by setting Ignore Fault as shown in the data sheet, I think that PG trip is also disabled, is it correct?

    Best regards,
    Yuto Sakai

  • Sakai-san,

I do not see it masked on my board. I will check with design.

    Regards,
    Mathew
