BQ24157: BQ24157:how to judge the charger is adapter or USB

Part Number: BQ24157
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25601D, BQ25600D

Dears,

I want to adopt BQ24157, but I confuse that how to judge  the charger is adapter or USB? Because I want to charge in 800mA, and USB is 500mA limited.

  • Martin,

The bq24157 relies on the host processor to set its input current limit via I2C. The host processor likely relies on a USB chip to distinguish between USB and adapter over the D+/D- bus.

We have other chargers that have D+/D- pins which perform USB detection per USB 1.2. (for example, bq25600D or bq25601D). Please keep in mind that your system is responsible for full USB enumeration.
