BQ25700A: BQ25700A design for 20V input for 3S or 4S battery, 100W system load

Part Number: BQ25700A

Hi Expert

Last week I ask a E2E question that "can BQ25700A support 8A output". Thanks for your reply! becasue I can't open that question website, so I create this question!

Following is the project information: NB project for 20V/5A input (type-C), vsys need to support 100W ( 3S 12.6V/7.9A or 4S 16.8V/ 5.9A )

I saw that Joel answer that "there is a minimum of 8mOhm that can be applied as the ACN/ACP sense resistor"

I want to ask that " do we need to take care about what items when we design the circuit?"

How large the buck-boost MOSFET and inductor saturation current need to reserve?

Thanks!

  • Hey Bruce,

Can you clarify the question: "do we need to take care about what items when we design the circuit?"

Are you looking for a checklist of items consider when designing the charging cirucit?

As far as the MOSFET and inductor selection/sizing, I will recommend you go to the "9.2.2 Detailed Design Procedure" section of the datasheet.
Section 9.2.2.2 Inductor Selection will help with the inductor sizing to help calculate the worst case inductor current ripple and select an inductor with adequate I_sat value.
Section 9.2.2.5 Power MOSFETs Selection can help in sizing the switching FETs in designing around power loss and the charger's gate drive strength with respect to the MOSFET charges, etc.
