BQ24090: Loading an accu with the BQ24090 with an series diode

Dear Forum,

we would load an Li-accu with the BQ24090.

The issu is that there is a Schottky-Diode before the positive pin of the accu. So we can connect the output of the BQ24090 only to the diode with an voltage drop of about 300..450mV and not directly to the accu.

Can someone give us an advice if this is a problem for the BQ24090 and how to solve this?

Hello Matthias
The first problem will be charge complete and termination. With the diode's additional voltage drop BQ24090 will enter voltage regulation phase early and not completely charge the battery.
Also it may have a problem with battery detection, needs to pull a current from the battery to confirm it is present.

What design changes can you make at this point?
Change charger?
Change the diode to a mosfet?
