BQ27425-G2A: Full charge capacity register losing count while charging 2200mAh battery

Hello

I am currently performing a learning cycle of my 2200mAh battery, following the steps as described in SLUA903, SLUA652 and a Learning cycle overview document I found.

The after discharging the battery, letting it rest for the recommended 5 hours and then starting a charge cycle at 1Ah, BQ27425-G2A recorde the charge entering the battery and updated the Full charge capacity register accordingly. However, near to 2000mAh the BQ27425-G2A loses count and Full charge capacity restarts from 0. When the battery is fully charged (2150mAh) according to my battery charger, the BQ27425 displays that the full charge capacity of the battery is only in the 169mAh range.

Why is it losing count? The debug 2 register seems to have kept count correctly.

I have attached a log file.

Hello Christie,

I am puzzled by your log file. Can you send me a picture of your setup?

In the log file, there are numerous cases where the temperature goes to 1445 degrees Celsius. I would like to make sure we address that prior to debugging the other registers.

Can you confirm the following:

Windows OS
bqStudio version or EVSW version
EV2300 or EV2400

Hi Kang.

Yes, I can see on bqStudio how several registers temporarily glitch to extreme values, the avg. current, temperature and battery voltage registers are just 3 examples i can remember off the top of my head.

Running Windows 10

bqStudio 1.3.54.1

EV2300.

This erratic jumping, is this something you've recently observed or has it been doing this ever since you got hold of the gauge and EV2300 ?
