BQ51051B: Help in components sizing to allow the receiver to work with a 6uH antenna.

Part Number: BQ51051B

Hello,

I am using bq51051byfpr as power receiver  with a 6uH antenna (Wurth's 760308105214).

The transmitter is QI compliant.

I tried to size the capacitors following the equations I found in the datasheet of the receiver and this is what I got:

C1-series=422 nF

C2-parallel=4.2 nF

I am attaching the schematic.

The problem is that apparently the transmitter does not identify the receiver, so the power transfer never starts, I only see a signal coming and stopping several times, as follows.

This is what I get from an oscilloscope, analyzing pins P8 and P9 of the schematic:

The main frequency seems to be about 170 kHz. The signal is sent several times but never stabilizes to a continuous transmission.

May you help finding the mistake in the design?

Thank you in advance,

Ilaria

  • Double check the coil p/n?
    I could not find 760308105214.
But schematic has 760308101214 and that one is a 26uH and 19mm round.
Tuning of the coil for 6uh would be about 400nF BUT a 6uH coil will not work well, problems starting.
A 26uH coil tuning would be 90nF and it should work ok.

Also take a look at the RECT voltage and verify that the voltage is exceeding UVLO, 2.7V to get started.
