LM5020: over current limit mode

Hi, team,

Just need to check with you two questions as below.

1. When LM5020 is in current limit situation, will the chip go into hiccup or power limit? We found that the output voltage will drop in over current.

2. In short circuit condition, will the protection the same as current limit mode?

Hi Johnny,

There is no hiccup mode inside the LM5020. When the CS pin hit the limit threshold, the IC truncates the duty cycle, which would lead to the output voltage drop. In the short circuit conditions, it is the same peak current limit circuit to fulfill the protection in the same manor.

If you are looking for something that have hiccup mode protection, please consider the LM5155, which is just APL'ed.
