BQ76PL455A-Q1: Open Wire Detection?

Part Number: BQ76PL455A-Q1

Hy at all,

I have problems with the Open Wire Detection.

Someone have an example with the protocol on URAT?

Regards,

Werner

  • Hi Werner,

Please view section 7.3.12.8.1 ("7.3.12.8.1 Window Comparator Special Considerations") of the PL455 datasheet for more information on how the squeeze function is used to detect open-sense wire conditions.

Also view the TSTCONFIG[EQ_SQUEEZE_EN] and CBENBL[BALANCE_EN] register bits for using this functionality. These two registers should allow you to set and test open-sense wire conditions.

    Vince
  • Hello,

I simply switch on the SQEEZE and the balances for each individual one after the other and then notice a voltage breakdown in this cell and a voltage increase in the two neighboring cells and from this should I conclude an open line?

    Regards,
    Werner
  • Hi Werner,

That is correct! The voltage differential between the open line and the above/below lines will be greater than normal.

    Vince
