BQ24070: Input power

Dear TI,

We are working on a design that uses the bq24070 to charge a single cell Li-Ion battery from a 5V 3A AC Adapter.

The idea of having an additional auxiliary pack with the same IC in it was thrown around and I'm wondering if that would work.

Essentially there would be another battery pack with a bq24070 in line with the existing one.

We think it would possibly work if the 5V AC Adapter is charging both packs.
However, without it, would the auxiliary pack's output (4.4V) be enough to power the existing pack with the bq24070 already in it?

Hello Kevin,
If i understand your question, you want to power 2 BQ24070 devices with one USB adapter. If that's the case, i'll suggest you look at BQ24073 (OVP =6.6V) or BQ24074 (OVP = 10.5V). These devices have VIN_DPM. VIN_DPM allows the device to continue charging even when VIN sags due to heavy load by reducing the input current. If you want to connect 2 chargers to 1 USB, that'll be a useful feature. You can read more about it here: www.ti.com/.../slua400a.pdf
