LM74670-Q1: Low Power Retifier Bridge, high inductance and impedance source

Part Number: LM74670-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC24610, UCC24612, LM5050-1, LM74700-Q1,

Dear colleagues,

I need your help and advise to solve an issue.

My objective is to design a low power rectifier board AC/DC that could work with low voltages, 1V or less up to 10V or more.

The device should be the most energy efficient as possible. The current avaiable is also very low <50mA, and the frequency is 50Hz.

1st Solution:

To do it I have designed and manufactured a board using the LM7470 FET controller. The results are okay, low voltage drop and fast response times. Everything perfect, however..

when I add a high impedance at the source side (input), which is required by the project (>50ohm) this setup slimply doesn´t work

I have read in the IC manual that this is a limitation of this IC. With high impedance sources they don't work properly. This conclusion is plausible to you?

2nd Solution:

Therefore I need your advise on finding a different FET IC controller that allows to have an high impedance source but works with low input voltages has the LM7470.

I have found the following IC's that I think can work also:

  • UCC24610 GREEN Rectifier™ Controller Device
  • UCC24612 High Frequency Synchronous Rectifier Controller
  • LM5050-1/-Q1 High-Side OR-ing FET Controller

Besides I have found this Precision Full-Wave Rectifier, Dual-Supply

It would be very important to have your help regarding this issue, choosing the best IC that matches with my specifications.

Thank you in advance!
