TPS63060: TPS63060

Part Number: TPS63060

Hi,

We are using TPS63060 in our project for converting 5V to 3.3V For enable and PS/SYNC pin maximum current input is 0.1uA (mentioned in datasheet). If we calculate pullup for this, then we will get 500MOhms. In few reference designs it is directly connected to Vin.In EVM by default EN is connected to Vin with 1MOhm. But direct connection option is also given. Similarly PS/SYNC is connected to ground through 1MOhm by default, but direct connection option is also given through jumpers.

So, if we connect directly, will it affect IC. Because,  the current will be higher when compared to the electrical specification.

I request you to clarify my doubts.

Regards,

E.Rohini

  • Hello Rohini,

The input current on this pin is drawn by the IC and will not be influenced by the connection of an external resistor. So you can either use resistors to connect these pins to any potential or you directly connect them.

In the EVM, the 2 input pins are connected with resistors to make sure that they are not floating, even if no jumper is connected. In general it is good practice to terminate any input pins.

The advantage of using resistors is that you can add a connection to VIN and to GND and decide during evaluation which one you need for your design. In addition, you have a better access for probing these pins.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
