BQ78Z100: ChemID for two series cells?

Part Number: BQ78Z100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

A custom battery pack using BQ78Z100 is made with two series Panasonic NCR18650A cells, exactly per the datasheet recommended application for two cells.  These cells are in the "Chemistry" tab of BqStudio under Chemistry ID 0232.  But this seems to set all the protection limits and other parameters as though there is only one cell.  How do I configure for two cells?

  • Hi,
The chemID should not change any of the protection settings.
Also, most protection settings are at the cell level since the gauge monitors each series cell, and tracks impedance and capacity of each series cell.
All the parameters that are at the stack level will be specified as being at the "Stack level" in the TRM (www.ti.com/.../sluub63) for example the "Shutdown Voltage" and "Term Voltage".
    Regards,
