TPS5430: first release and revision date differences

Hello,
for a new project, I need to have a step-down switching from Vin >= 36V and Vout=28V at 3A.
In my searching for it, I found TPS5430 and I noted the first release date is 2006 (very old) and the revised date 2017 (enough new).
Question: what means "revision date"? Is it that the chip is revised with new technology but leaving the compatibility? In other words, which date is the real date to estimate the oldness of chip? Yes, because I can't use a old component for a new project...
Anyone explain me this question, please?

Frederick,

The revision date refers to the revision of the data sheet document. You can see the revision history on sheet 2 of the data sheet. The actual ICs will have a marking that indicates the date of production.

in first thank you for your reply.

I note that in the second page there's the revision history, but my question was if there are improves in the chip.
Because I see there are many chip, with new revision date, but its concept is old.
And so, is it a good idea to use it for a new project?

So far as I know, there have not been any recent revisions to that silicon. You should be able to use it with confidence. The main thing you need to know is that it is internally compensated, so your choice of output filter components is limited.
