TPS63060: number of terminals connected to exposed thermal pad for WSON-package

Part Number: TPS63060

Dear TI-Engineers, In the TPS63060 datasheet (SLVSA92B -DECEMBER 2011 –REVISED DECEMBER 2014), I am confused by the information for the exposed thermal pad and the number of terminals connected on the WSON-package. The illustrations on PDF page 3, 21 and 27 indicates four terminals (2x2) connected to the exposed thermal pad. The illustrations on PDF page 28, 29 and 30 indicates eight terminals (2x4) connected to the exposed thermal pad. Why having eight terminals on the PCB footprint if only four of them are actually being used?

  • Hello Oskar,

I checked the backside of samples that I have here at hand and the parts has 4 fingers on each side of the pad, so in total 8. So pages 28 to 30 show the drawing as the ICs I have on hand. I need to clarify if there is a possibility that both package types (4 fingers and 8 fingers) are possible for this device and will come back with a definitive answer latest tomorrow.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
  • Hello Oskar,

The package always has 4 fingers on both sides of the thermal pad, so in total 8 fingers. When we update the datasheet, we will replace the drawings that show only 2 fingers on each side.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
