BQ76PL455A: recommended balancing FET

Hi,

both in the datasheet and the Design Recommendations, we suggest to use 2V7002K FETs for balancing. As these are hard to source at the moment, is there any other type of FET that we can recommend to customers? If there is no type that we have experience with, what parameters should customer take into account when selecting an alternative part?

    Hi Phil,

    Unfortunately we do not have a lot of experience to recommend another one specifically, but there are plenty out there that can do the job. The notable parameters when picking an alternate can be found in section 8.2.2.4 Balance FET of the datasheet. Most importantly, the 2V7002K has an internal gate-source diode to protect the FET during hotplug etc. so the user can either pick one with it internal or install a diode separately. Some other things include finding similar Vgs threshold <~2.5V and similar Vds, Vgs max ratings.
