UCC28251: How to replace UCC28250 with UCC28251

Part Number: UCC28251
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28250, , UCC28250EVM-564

Hi Team,

One of my customer is using UCC28250 on their project, but they need change to UCC28251 for some reasons. I just want to know how to change the circuit when replace UCC28250 with UCC28251.

I see there is an application note(Differences Between the UCC28251 and UCC28250 and Evaluation of the UCC28251 in the UCC28250EVM-564 Evaluation Module) talk about this. It said that we just need make a small changes on the board to make sure the operation frequency is the same with UCC28250. Is that say we just need suggest the customer change the RT resistor on their original design and other changes need care?

Best regards,

Lenna

  • Hi Lenna Yan,
I think that the UCC28251 should be a drop in replacement for the UCC28250.
You will need to reduce the RT resistor value by a factor of 2 in order to achieve the same switching frequency. This is clear if you look at Equation (3) on both datasheets.
Depending on the customer circuit it is possible but not likely that there will be other issues.
    Thanks
