BQ76930: Behavior of Alert pin

Part Number: BQ76930

Hi,

We are developing a BMS for Lithium-ion batteries (6 batteries) using bq76930.

I want to know about Alert pin behavior,

My understating is if any fault occurs the bq76930 set the particular bit in SYS_STAT register, due to this alert pin goes high.

If I overwrite SYS_STAT register with 0XFF alert pin will go low.

my question is

If Alert pin goes high and  I am overwriting SYS_STAT  with 0xFF  which will make Alert pin low,

if the Fault is still persist in bq76930 , then Alert pin goes high?

if yes, At what time interval Alert pin goes high?

Thank You

  • Hi Vikas,

    It depends on the fault.

A UV fault for example is determined over time.  You can clear a UV fault and it will be checked again, and if still UV the status and ALERT will set again.

Clearing a fault while the fault is still present will not change ALERT.  An example is attempting to clear XREADY when power is missing to the upper group.
