LM5160A: Insufficient Iout

Hi Ti.

I have used webench software and also calculate the values of the external components based on datasheet but at the real situation on the EVK it gives me insufficient current on the output. Means the output voltage drop after I connect the load.

Hello Electrobud,

How much current are you drawing and how much does the output sag?

Hi Robert,

For 12V the output current is 0.25A and for 5V the output current is 0.6A.

Hi Robert,

Kindly please help to advise further as I am using Vin:12V to Vout:12V the output current achieve is 0.25A and for Vin:5V to Vout:5V the output current achieve is 0.6A. Our target is to achieve Iout:1A. I had follows the values that is indicated in the calculation sheet which shared by you. Please help to provide further assist.

Hello Electrobud,

It appears that you are exceeding the power capability of the LM5160A. Since you now want a 1 A solution, a different device such as the LM76002. Since this design is not yet available on the web, please send an email to robert.blattner@ti.com so that I can send you a copy.
