I am having a difficult time setting up the footprint for this device in KiCad because there is insufficient information about the dimensions, namely, how far apart the pads are vertically from the thermal pad. The datasheet is somewhat confusing. It refers to slua271. It would be nice if a regular footprint diagram were included in the datasheet. Better yet, it would be really great if TI could release a footprint library for KiCad. Furthermore, the drawings for this leave a lot to be desired since many distances are not labeled. It's also unclear if that is where the pads are on the device or if it is the suggested footprint. I think it may be the former. Furthermore, the diagrams referred to by 
are no better.
Now I did eventually find a 3rd party footprint for this device. Note that I am not a seasoned board designer and I have found other TI datasheets to be far more helpful in terms of the footprint design.
