TPS62260: Could you tell me about TPS62260?

Part Number: TPS62260

Hi, team.

My customers are considering adopting TPS62260TDRVRQ1.

So, could you tell me about following question?

<Question>

When the following pins are OPEN, what kind of behavior is expected?

※ Please let me know, It's OK by guess.(Adjust the answer for customers by myself.)

① When 2 pin (MODE) is OPEN:

② When 4 pin (EN) is OPEN:

Could you help me?

Best regards,

Pokkun(Masumi Sekiguchi)

  • Hi Pokkun,

According to datasheet EN pin should be connected to high or low to get proper operation on device. Open mode pin(Pin 2) will not damage the device but it will be difficult to define it is working in Power save mode or PWM mode.

    Bets regards,
    Tanvee
  • Hi, Tanvee-san.

    Thank you for your contact.

    In other words. . .
①Is it to repeat power save mode and PWM mode?
Is there a problem with the idea that it can continue outputting, if this IC's status is enable?

②I understand that I can not get appropriate action.
If the EN logic is undefined, will the IC operate or turn off?

    Best regards,
    Masumi Sekiguchi
  • Hi Masumi,

The IC operation is not determined for undefined condition of EN pin. According to Datasheet Pin must be connected.
Please can you elaborate the question about the mode pin.

    Best regards,
    Tanvee
  • I'm sorry for contact late, Tanvee-san.

I must be answered present opinions from customers.
※We also know that there is no internal pull-up / pull-down resistor.
Therefore, I will reply to customers as described below, is there no problem?

① EN pin floating: Although it is not possible to determine the output ON / OFF,
it is considered that no abnormal voltage (voltage not set by the FB resistor) will be generated.
②MODE pin floating: Although it is not possible to determine the operation mode,
it is considered that no abnormal voltage (voltage not set by the FB resistor) will appear.

Sorry to trouble you, could you answer me?

    Best regards,
    Masumi Sekiguchi.
  • Hi.

Could you tell me a following question at during last time?

    <Question>

① EN pin floating: Although it is not possible to determine the output ON / OFF,
it is considered that no abnormal voltage (voltage not set by the FB resistor) will be generated.

    Best regards.
  • Hello Pokkun-san,

Please explain yourself. The point is that this device EN pin must be connected to a voltage. If it is not connected we cannot guarantee any type of state of the converter. So simply consider the status undetermined. Same as for the MODE pin, the operation cannot be determined.

And another thing I don't get your point: what do you mean by abnormal voltage?
  • To get a reliable circuit it is important to connect valid signals to the control inputs. Which type of signals are required are clearly explained in the datasheet, e.g. in the table "terminal functions" on page 4. If no valid signals are connected the circuit will not be reliable and needs to be fixed.
