UCC27212A-Q1: mosfet driver

Part Number: UCC27212A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27712-Q1

Hi to all support team

I'm about to use UCC27212A-Q1 component in new design but stuck with 3 questions.

Datasheet (page 10) waveform diagram shows as if I can switch LI and HI inputs simultaneously and to get

"brake before make" dead time on LO and HO.

  • Is my understanding correct?
  • If it is then, what name has this unmarked  (page 10) dead time on LO  and HO pins?
  • Can I use this driver in application of full bridge without any external delays? in other words to perform full bridge driving with single signal, as shown on attached picture?

Thank You

Yuri

  • Hello Yuri,
Thank you for the interest in the UCC27212A-Q1. I will address the questions you have on this part. The UCC27712-Q1 gate driver has independent driver inputs which means the control of the LO and HO output is determined by the LI and HI input state. There is no interlock or dead time feature on the LO and HO so both outputs can be high at the same time.
The diagram on page 10 is actually two separate graphs which are showing the definition of propagation delay on the left side, and the right side is showing the timing relationship of propagation delay matching. There is not a guaranteed dead time between the LO and HO transitions.
The dead time and LO and HO output control need to be accomplished with the LI and HI input signals.
