CCS/UCD3138: ucd3138

Part Number: UCD3138

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

So now I installed CCS latest version: when I had to check  for which device, I checked out UCD3138

But there is nothing anywhere dealing with UCD3138!

I cannot even select it from device pull down menu

What did I miss?

Is there a video  that  presents the whole process of setting up tools, examples( e.g. PFC), editing code to customize, adding new code sections etc etc?

thnx

  • We will have CSS expert to answer you shorty
  • During the installation of CCS, you are prompted to choose all the platforms that you are interested in.
UCD3138 family of digital power controllers is one of those platforms that need to be selected.

If you have not selected UCD3138 support during installation, then you can add the support through Help menu.

Help -> Install new software (All available Sites):

The following link will direct you to UCD3138 training:

Another new question: what is the smallest footprint for a microcontroller I can use to do the following

-have 2  ADC channels,  do not have to be super fast

-will  output a pulse train to sample  a line frequency signal at approx 10 kHz, with pulse width of approx 30 usec. This is done by an isolated driver to a GaN switch. So that the ADC channel has an input of approx 50mV to 1000mV depending upon line signal being sampled.

-ADC inputs have a common mode voltage of VAA/2(i.e. 3.3v/2). This will be stripped off & then the samples  integrated and "rectified" when the line signal is negative

    - It will output a second  signal that is integrated & digitally filtered to have high accuracy scaled  "rectified" sinusoid that was being sampled.

    - It can also give out a parallel 8- bit value of the peak input samples,  & the line frequency.

I note MPS430 is perhaps one.

We are developing  with UCD3138 as well some other system ; so we have the basic  IDE with hardware .

But this is one is a small footprint stand-alone  function. Not to be mixed up with UCD3138 functions.

Any  suggestion will be highly appreciated.

  • Hi Robin,

Both UCD3138 and MSP430 can do the job.
I am guessing that MSP430 will probaly come in a wider variety of footprints and you will find a varient that matches all your requirements.
