BQ25895: External USB Switch

Does the BW25895 require a USB switch (TS3USB221ARSER) controlled by the DSEL pin as shown in the EVM to perform the USB D+/D- detection or can we just hook it right up the USB data lines coming from the USB Phy?

    Andrew,

    The BQ25895 only automatically accesses the D+/D- during the first 2-3 seconds after power up. The host can initiate later communications. After access, the D+/D- return to HiZ state. Some customers use the a switch and some do not. If you can guarantee no comms on D+/D- for the first 2-3 seconds after power up, you should be okay.
