BAttery charger IC with inputs from USB or Adaptor.

Hello All,

I want to use a BAttery Charger IC to charge a LIPO battery having a rating of 200mAH to 500mAH.

IC must be capable of showing status of battery voltages, includes all the protection as well must be able to charge battery in parallel providing voltage to the system also.

Input will be coming from Micro USB Connector.

Can you guys suggest, Which IC will be more praferable and upto what current ratings should i consider for charging 200-500 mAH LIPO battery.

Normal ratings of LIPO battery is 3V to 4.2V.

Please suggest me what should i keep in mind while selecting BAttery charging IC in terms of Voltage and current ratings of the IC.

Also share me any reference schematic to design the Hardware.

Hello,
Please take a look at the BQ2423x family of devices depending on your requirements. It can charge up to 500mA and has VOUT of 4.4V and VBAT(REG) of 4.2V. It can charge the battery and power the system at the same time.

Dear Raheem,

Thanks for updating and sharing information.

Is it possible to monitor Battery voltage on ADC pins of my controller of battery?

Or else how can i use external voltage divider at battery and connect on ADC pin to monitor battery voltage.
Also please share how to calculate resistor values for the same.

Hardik,
You can use a voltage divider to measure the battery voltage using an ADC. You'll want to use high resistance values to reduce leakage. Yu can also look into using a gauge for more accurate measurement here: www.ti.com/.../products.html
