TPS62132: New date code parts are noisy

Noise issue with newer parts. I have a 3.3 volt design that is around 200mA at Idle and when I turn on the sensors to take a sample it jumps to about 1.3A. The design has always been quite and given us good data. Now the design is noisy. If put an older date code TPS62132 on the board it is back to being quite. What is the explanation?

Hi Perry,

Can you send a waveform of Vin, Vout, SW, and current for each IC to show the behavior? Is the current you mentioned input or output current?

Does this happen on multiple PCBs or just 1?

The only way we can resolve it is to replace the new date code part with one of the old date code parts. We have a few of the old date code parts left and they work great. What changed on the part? I believe it is only the transient response. If we leave all of the sensors turned on the noise issue goes away. I would like to use the TPS82130 but the availability isn't very good.

Hi Perry,

So is the issue the load transient response? This was not clear so far. Can you send the waveforms of the load transient response with the different ICs?

Nothing related to transient response has changed on the device.

TPS82130 also has lower current, pin to pin, options in TPS82140 and TPS82150. Lead times in the whole market, and for integrated power modules, are longer right now.

Hi Perry,

The markings you provided in your first post don't quite line up with what should be on the devices. So, Jim would like to look into this for you. In addition to what Jim requested, the simplest item (I assume) for you to provide would be photos of the top side of both ICs. You can start with this, while you obtain the other details.

Here are the pictures you requested. We have multiple reals of this device purchased at different times with different markings. Only the oldest real is quiet with a fast response an it is on the right side in the pictures and marked with TI 33 A9DI. All are quiet in the steady state mode. Only difference is with load changes.

Regarding your performance difference, I'm having a difficult time understanding what the operating difference is. Can you send some waveforms or photos of good and bad operation, under the same conditions?
