BQ24192: Charger chip damage

Part Number: BQ24192

Hi

I am not able to get the voltage at SYS (Specifically after inductor of 2.2uH). I am able to get Voltage at SW 5.5V . VBUS is connected at 5.5V input.

Can anyone suggest what can be done in this case?

  • Hello Margisha,

Can you please elaborate on the test conditions during your testing? This will include input bias conditions, battery bias conditions, etc.

Was the testing done on the EVM or a custom PCB?

From your description, it sounds like there might be an issue with the high side FET, Q2. If you are seeing the input voltage at the output, it tells me that there might be a short from the input to the output. The voltage at SW should range between VBAT to ~4.35V.

    I would verify the following:
-Remove the input and measure the voltage at PMID. The voltage should be ~VBAT minus a diode drop from the high side FET. SYS should be at ~VBAT.

-Apply VBUS and measure PMID, it should be ~VBUS. Then verify if there's a large current going from the input directly into the battery.

-Verify the SW waveform to make sure the converter is able to switch.
