TPS4H160-Q1: TPS4H160-Q1

Part Number: TPS4H160-Q1

Hello,

I'm facing the issue related to Fault output.

when the input channel 1 is HIGH  corresponding channel 1 Switch output is LOW (remaining 3 channels output are in HIGH only ),as per the datasheet Fault output should be LOW but while testing Fault output is in HIGH state only.

could you please help me what are the possibilities to happen this condition .and we have measured the voltage across the Vs pin and channel 1 output it shows Vs itself (open condition)

Thank you for your response in advance.

  • Hello,

nFAULT is a global fault. It is ORed logic and that means it reports any channel fault. The condition to report the fault, DIAG_EN must be high. I understood the following from your above description:

1- Voltage is present on VS pin. What is the voltage level?

2- IN1 is high but channel1 is off. do you measure 0V on OUT1? If this is the case what is the voltage level on IN1? What is the load condition? is it in oveload condition?

3- IN2, 3 and 4 are low or open. Is the load open? Do you have pull up resistors for open load detection in off state? If not, there is no fault and nFAULT is normal to be high.

Please check table 1 and table 2 in datasheet page 22 for better understanding the global fault conditions.

  • Hello Mahmoud,

Thanks for your response,as this issue was solved by our side .because of series resistor opened between microcontroller and input(IN1) pin of the IC.

    Thank you.

  • Hello Ram,

Glad to know the issue was solved.

    Regards, Mahmoud
