UCC2818: How to design an isolated power supply with UCC2818

Part Number: UCC2818
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28061-Q1, , UCC28061, UCC28C43-Q1, UCC28C43

Hi,

My requirement is: input 30V~500V DC, output 12V1A, isolated, can I design this circuit with UCC2818A-Q1, or UCC28061-Q1, UCC28707-Q1? Automotive grade device is needed. Thanks.

  • Hello Wayne,
The UCC2818A is a high power CCM pfc controller and so is really not suitable for a 12W design.
The UCC28061 is an interleaved TM pfc controller and is designed for power levels from 150W to 500W.
Additionally both of these devices have been optimised for an input voltage range of about 3:1 and for a boost type circuit.
Your requirement is for a 17:1 input range.
Why do you need a pfc controller when your input is DC ?
Have you considered using the UCC28C43-Q1 in a buck type circuit ?

    Regards
    John
  • John,

Thank you so much for your quick response and valuable suggestion. I will try UCC28C43
