BUCK PFC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28070, UCC29910A, UCC28180, UC2854

Hi all,

I have to design 600W buck PFC circuit.

Please suggest us IC/ Design/ circuit to meet below specifications

1. Vin: 90- 265 Vac, 1 phase , 50 Hz

2. Vout: Any value between 60-80VDC

3. Output power: 600W.

  • Hello A.S.Bhushan ,
We do not have a reference design for a 600W buck type pfc.
However you should read the attached document that details the design procedure for a buck pfc
    www.ti.com/.../slup264.pdf
You can potentially use any of the CCM pfc controllers such as UCC28180,UCC28910A,UCC28070,UC2854 in such an application. The UCC29910A was designed for lower power applications but you will find lots of useful information in its web page.
A method of low side buck switch is described in the above paper with differential voltage sensing of the output and this is probably a lot easier than driving a high side switch with a transformer.
This paper also describes the disadvantages of a buck pfc.
    Regards
    John
