BQ20Z90: I have a problem, please your hend !!

Part Number: BQ20Z90

Hi, I am korean engineer. I frustrated now. Because the two problem stand in my way.

First, relative state of charge VS absolute state of charge.

I can't understand what's different both. Also, BQ20z90 program show us "feul Gauge stick gage in under left side"

At that time, this gage is same "Relative state of charge" ? (It's just my guess) and why not match absolute state of charge % ?..

Secodn, too much fast discharge time. If ones would come in wait state which seems like the time when we don't use smartphone, and then smartphone take a rest without any commend from human.

But my circuit waste about 28% in a day. Probably, my bq20z90 software setting is wrong? or hardware problem?

Give me a wise. Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

    I wanted to let you know that your post has been assigned to one of our applications engineers. This week takes place our annual Battery Management Deep Dive event for which all our engineers are all hands on deck. He will be able to your post early next week, once this event is over.

    You can check out recordings of much of the material we present at www.ti.com/deepdive

    Thank you for your understanding!

  • Have you performed a learning cycle with the gauge? Our gauges need to be configured correctly. For this you need to identify your battery chem ID, then do a learning cycle after configuring the gauging parameters. Once this is done, the gauge will track capacity accurately.

    RSOC = RM/FCC
    ASOC = RM/Design cap

    RSOC is a measure of capacity of the cycle. ASOC is a measure of battery aging.
  • Thanks your comment, I will try it.

    I don't perform a learning cycle on Bq20z90 model. Could you explain more detail about that? or can I get a document related in that?

    and "i dentify your battery chem ID part, what is mean? can I configure each chem ID in bq20z90 ?

    I used "SASMUNG SDI, INR18650-35E model"
  • Please use the chem plugin to identify the battery and program the chemistry. This post is related to your other post. I will close this and take your questions on the other post.
