BQ24193: Restart condition after detection of safety timer

Part Number: BQ24193

HI

In bq24193  data sheet, restart condition is described  as bellow

The following actions restart the safety timer:(P20)
1.At the beginning of a new charging cycle
2.Toggle the CE pin HIGH to LOW to HIGH (charge enable)
3.Write REG01[5:4] from 00 to 01 (charge enable)
4.Write REG05[3] from 0 to 1 (safety timer enable)
5.Write REG01[7] to 1 (software reset)

*By action of 2=>3=>4=>5,  then does charging start without power off ? or is it necessary to power off and on  after action of 2=>3=>4=>5 ?

*If safety timer happened, what is recommendation action ?

Not use any more  charging ?

best regards K.Kanao

  • Hello Katsuhiro-san,

After the safety timer expiration, any of the 5 actions can restart the timer.

If the safety timer expires, the device will disable charge on its own and assert an interrupt to the host. At this point, the host can read the FAULT register to confirm which fault disabled charging and decide whether or not to clear the safety timer to resume/restart charging. This means a POR isn't necessary in order to clear the safety timer fault and to resume charging.
