BQ24650: MPPSET to enable charge time

Part Number: BQ24650

hi sir,

my one customer is used bq24650, they use the MCU I/O  to control MPPSET pin, however,  some times they find this IC start charge need several minutes after mppset enbale when power up status.  but sometime it wait for several seconds from power up Mppset to begin to charger . they think it is abnormal, they want to know what is correct wake time between enable MPPSET to enable charge? some minutes is too long .

what's happened will occur our question that it will take so long time to enable change.

I see the SPEC as below , this wake timer is for our question?

  • Hi,

The 500ms spec is for the battery detection time. Please refer to the spec below instead.

Besides the MPPSET voltage, section 8.3.7on the d/s also lists other conditions needed to enable charging. Please double-check.

    8.3.7 Enable and Disable Charging

The following conditions have to be valid before charging is enabled:

    • Charge is allowed (MPPSET > 175 mV)

    • Device is not in undervoltage lockout (UVLO) mode and VCC is above the VCCLOWV threshold

    • Device is not in SLEEP mode (that is, VCC > SRN)

    • VCC voltage is lower than AC overvoltage threshold (VCC < VACOV)

    • 30-ms delay is complete after initial power-up

    • REGN LDO and VREF LDO voltages are at correct levels

    • Thermal Shut (TSHUT) is not valid

    • TS fault is not detected

    Thanks,

    Ning.
