TPS2121: About reverse current flow

Part Number: TPS2121

Hi,

Could you tell me about reverse current in reverse voltage state?
The customer assumes the configuration of the following figure.
Under the following conditions,
・Supply1=5V, Supply2=12V
・Timing of switching from 12V to 5V

With 12V of charge stored in the Load side capacitor,
Does reverse current flow to the 5V side?
Please tell me about TPS2121 operation under this condition.

Best Regards,
Yusuke

  • Hi,

    Can I get the information?
If you need more information or if  I should  clarify my comment ,please let me know.
    Sorry for rush you.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Yusuke-san,

Apologies about the delay, thanks for reaching out on E2E.

The TPS2121 has active reverse blocking when the output of the device is higher than the input channel voltage. For this scenario, if the output of the device is 12V while the input is 5V, the channel will stop reverse current from flowing into the 5V channel within trcb (~2us). Once the voltage on the output falls within VRCB (~25mV) of the 5V input channel, then reverse current blocking will be off and the device can switch to the 5V input.

Let me know if you have any questions!

    Thanks,

    Arthur Huang
