TPS54821: Idle current

Hello!

I am wondering if it is OK that TPS54821 EVB draws 14mA without load with 12V input voltage?
My design with 5V output draws about 24mA.

My design requirments are:

Up to 5A 5V output
8-13V input
Small idle current
Small footprint
Little thermal emissions
Low cost of course :)

Could someone advice if I can do something to decrease idle power consumption or recommend better part for my design?

Hi Kristaps,

This is normal because this device works in FCCM mode in light load condition. To decrease the idle power consumption, you need a device which can work in PSM mode in light load condition. For example, TPS54628, TPS56628, TPS568215, etc.

Couldn't find how to filter by PSM mode in DCDC product selector.
Do you have any recommendations for exact part number or way to filter them?

I just modified my last answer with some part number. When searching the parts, you can check the "light load efficiency" to find them out.
