LM5176: LM5176 no load power power consumption

Hi Sir,

Our customer used the LM5176, they are think power consumption too high in no load condition.

We are check TI LM5176EVM If Vout=12V no load condition input have 6V(VIN)*0.125A(Iin)=0.75W(Pin), 24V*0.0634=1.52W, 36V*0.0712A=2.56W.

EN=Low still 24V*0.0059A=0.14W.

How can we improve? Because customer is used battery, They are care this issue.

Does TI have other solution support 9~36V to 12V @ 7~10A?

Why same condition power consumption difference range 0.75W to 2.56W?

Hi Hugo,

Thank you for your interests. The LM5176 does not have DCM mode. If your customer really cares about light load or no load consumption, you can consider the LM5175 and enable the DCM mode. The LM5175 is pin-pin compatible with the LM5176, but the RT pin resistor needs to be updated operating at the same switching frequency.
