BQ24040: BQ24040 Pre term

Part Number: BQ24040

Hi Team,

I would like to utilize the battery as much as I can, currently if I following the spec the minimal resistor I can use is 1KOhm and this gives about 5mA termination current

However I tired 100Ohm and got 100uA termination current

Please clarify the calculation and advise if can use lower resistor.

    Hi Shlomi
    The termination current is calculated as a percentage of output current. For the BQ24040 typical value is 10%, set by 2k resistor on PRE-TERM pin. Open on this pin will set value at 10% also. Recommended min value is 1k for 5%.
    The circuit accuracy at lower currents decreases and may not detect termination resulting in a timer fault.
    We would recommend not going below 1k for this resistor value.
