In recent news, the output of class8 is displayed as 99W, and customers are confused.

  • Hello Charles. Please check out our FAQ on this topic. You can find it here --> e2e.ti.com/.../724154 .

The link you provided goes to a whitepaper co-authored by fellow TIer (and IEEE 802.3bt comment editor) Dave Abramson. It is not the official standard but was written in order to provide customers with an easy-to-use guide while waiting for the publication to officially publish in December/January time frame.

I am not sure where the 99W is referenced but the official guidelines and power levels are included in the white paper and in all TI datasheets for IEEE 802.3bt-ready product such as TPS2373, TPS2373, and TPS23880.
