TPS65381A-Q1: Is it have passed ASIL-D?

Part Number: TPS65381A-Q1

Dears,

we find some POWER DC/DC who pass ASIL, Does TPS65381A-Q1 have passed ASIL-D,we can't find this description in datasheet.

  • Hello,

TPS65381A-Q1 was not developed under the ISO26262 process, so it is not specifically qualified for any ASIL system. However, when used properly in the system, it has the features to support ASIL-D requirements, and has been successfully used in ASIL-D applications.

    Regards,
    Karl
  • To add a little more clarification, ISO26262 is a system level standard so no IC can be ASIL rated unless it is the whole system.  What can happen is an IC can be developed under a process specifically for ISO26262 with assumed use case with features to support an ASIL level with that use case.

The TPS65381A-Q1 is part of the SafeTI program with a SafeTI-QM level, see www.ti.com/safeti for more information on SafeTI.  The device has a SafeTI design package that include documentation to support easy evaluation of suitability for use in functional safety system designs with application of appropriate system level measures. Hardware qualification of Basic and Intermediate hardware components per ISO 26262-8; Clause 13 is one example of how this SafeTI-QM design package could be used to help you use this device in your application.

As Karl has mentioned it has many features that allow it to support ASIL applications which in all use cases of an IC must be compared about hardware safety requirements of your specific system to make sure that the features and functions it has will cover the necessary hardware safety requirements or additional system level measures could be added.  This device has been used in ASIL-D applications.

    Best Regards,

    Scott

  • thanks very much!
