I have to charge a 48V lithium ion battery from a 36V power supply. Can you explain me how a boost converter can be used. Is TI has any IC which can be used for the application

Hi Mudit,

TI does not have a single battery charge IC that can meet those requirements. However, I found a reference design, using the reference design search at www.ti.com/.../index.html that might meet you needs.

This design is SEPIC based design and can accept input voltages above and below 58V. If you input source is always 36V, you can simplify this into a boost converter.
