TPS2546: Overcurrent

Hi,

When there's a overcurrent happening but not exceeding the overcurrent FAULT timer (typ 8.2sec in datasheet), is there any way to prevent voltage drop at IN when there's a drop at OUT.

There's a case as below, with OUT at CH-3 and IN at CH-1. You can see there's a short drop in CH-3 when there' s a inrush current happening, and meanwhile a similar drop is seen at CH-1. Is there any way to keep CH-1 constant at this moment?

Hi Chuck,

Sorry for the late response. Customer confirmed it's helpful to add caps here, but would still like to know if there's any protection mechanism for such scenario within the chip. Can you confirm this?

This fault appears to be caused by a current transient. The reason that we suggested adding more capacitance was to provide extra charge storage to absorb the transient without causing a current limit.

There is now way to prevent this from happening beyond adding the capacitance.
