BQ28Z610: while charging, only COV is set, TC and FC no action

Hi everyone,

we use the BQ28z610 for a configuration of 2S2P accu cells. But unfortunatly the pack doesn't work like it should.

First of all I updated the ChemID to the correct one (CHEMID 440).

I calibrated the BMS as mentioned in the TR (SLUUA65C) and ran the learning cycle as well.

Both cycle counter increased and update Status has entered "0E" like descriped in "slua777" .

After this the Golden Image was created by loading the customized .gg.csv into the Default.srec and Export it as new golden Image.

I updated a new BMS pcb with this generated Image.

When I started running a test cycle with complete discharge and complete Charge, the BMS did not react on the FC and TC tresholds. Charging was not stopped at reaching the defined voltage of 3600mV. The cell voltages increased until the COV treshold was reached at 3675mV and terminated charging.

    You probably didn't reach charge termination or your charge termination settings were wrong. Please upload the log file for the run, your srec and your gg file in a zip file. I will look into it.

    thanks for your reply. TC did not reach, thats correct. But the cell voltage rises until COV at this treshold is set up higher than TC.

    Is it neccessary, that both cell voltages have to pass FC treshold before TC can be set when hit? Because at the end of Charge the cell voltages drift apart.

    In the attached zip, you will find the srec, gg file and a log file created by our Software. This Software logs different Parameters and only shows Registers, when an error occurs.

    It is not a log file created by bqStudio.

    Hi Batt,

    hope getting more Information soon.

    But i have an additional question.

    When starting developement with the bq28z610, we used the Firmware 0.17 with Build 22. We can communicate with the Controller via EV2300 connected to a Computer with OS WinXP. The bqStudio is v1.3.54.

    After updating de FW to 0.20 Build 25, I tried to get communication via EV2300 and Computer with OS Windows 7 and  bqStudio is v1.3.54. This combination didn't work and i could not get any Connection to the Controller.

    So I tried the updated Controller at the former Computer with XP and communication was working properly.

    I installed bqStudio is v1.3.86 at OS Windows 7 and could get Connection via EV2300 and the Controller with FW 0.17 and also 0.20.

    But this Software  v1.3.86 is mentioned only for Test purpose.

    I have detected, that this Software doesn't provide the Import of data in advanced mode any more. It's not possible to activate Special Parameters like calibration for Import or activate /deactivate some parts of the gg.csv files.

    Will this be fixed in a newer Software Version? Is the v1.3.86 "Test purpose" available soon in a released Version for production like the former Version?
