Hiii, I need a 4s lithium battery balancing ic with an integrated fuel gauge (LED). As the application is for a power bank I don't need any communication. But the overvoltage and overcurrent protection values are needed to be customizable. Kindly suggest me some ic that suits my design.

I've gone through the technical documents of bq40z50. The parameters are to be customised using bqstudio. But when we go for the mass production, we need 3 different set of values. How to program 3 different set of values for higher volmues.

If I am not wrong, every bq40z50 must be programmed using bqstudio for various parameters such as Battery ChemID=li-po, Threshold voltages=4.2, threshold currents=2200mA.. etc., Since I want to make 1000 pcb how can I program 1000 units ?

Hi Devansh,

I would suggest that you look at this video for training. After you have configured your gauge to work with your cells and your system then you create what is called a golden image which is then used for your production flow to program these 1k pcbs.

In the datasheet it was shown that LED to show battery remaining capacity. Will this show the battery level even while charging and/or discharging.

That is correct. Remaining capacity is tracked during all states.

I understood the datasheet and now I want to build a 4s BMS without 2nd level protection and without fuse. If I remove the fuse can I remove the FET connected to FUSE terminal of the bq40z40r2 ic? I need little help in simplifying the schematic wihtout 2nd level protector, fuse and shutdown button.

Hi Devansh,

If you look in the datasheet on page 4 you will find that you should ground the Fuse pin if you are not going to use it therefore the rest of the circuitry is not needed.
